A middle-aged male with wrist pain

Wrist Cases

A middle-aged male presents with left sided wrist pain of some months. It is constantly present. There is a history of mild trauma a year ago but no symptoms until recently. Examination shows mild reduction in dorsi and palmar flexion of the wrist but no other abnormalities.

A plain XR and MRI were done

  1. What is the diagnosis?
  2. What is the value of the MRI?
  3. What staging system is there for this problem
  4. What is the appropriate management for this patient?

Wrist injury in a polytrauma patient

Wrist Cases A young male was admitted after a Road Traffic Accident. He had multiple injuries including a pelvic fracture, open tibial fracture and intra-abdominal injuries. He was stable after resuscitation. He was noticed to have pain and deformity over the left wrist. His wrist radiographs are shown above.

  1. What is the diagnosis?
  2. What is the mechanism of injury?
  3. What is the management and outcome of this injury?
