The meeting was held at the Advanced Surgical Training Center, National University Hospital today. It was preceded by a buffet lunch in the foyer. A new executive committee was elected into office as well. The society would like to record thanks to A/Prof Aymeric Lim and his team for their efforts the last two years. We wish the new office bearers, lead by Dr Peng Yeong Pin, all the best.
The society's AGM was held today from 10 am to 12 noon at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. This was followed by an informal Thai Buffet lunch at the hotel's Cafe Brio. One major highlight of the AGM was the introduction of the new members. Our new ordinary members for 2008 are: Darryl Chew, Yeo Chong Jin, Aaron Gan, Anthony Foo and Phoon Ee San. Pramod Chinder from Bangalore India joined as a new corresponding member. The executive committee for 2008-2009 was also elected. A/Prof Aymeric Lim and Peng Yeong Pin will remain as president and vice-president respectively.
This is to inform you that the 27th Annual
General Meeting of the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery will be held on 12

Now that Alphonsus has rejuvenated the site with an all-new interface, and the picture upload function is working again, it's time to restart the case discussions! Every fortnight a new case will be presented with a few questions to get you thinking. Answers will be given the following week. The case or the answers or both may be controversial since they reflect the views of the contributor. If there is anything you would like to add or question, please feel free to do so. Hopefully there will be lots of discussion and different viewpoints aired.
If you have any cases to contribute, or if you have any cases you would like to discuss, please register and submit them at any time under the topic Case Discussion. The more cases the better!
Here is the first case
This man is a manual worker. He presents with increasing pain and swelling in the finger over a period of 3 days. He vaguely recalls being pricked by a steel wire shortly before his symptoms began.
1) What is the likely diagnosis?
2) What are the four signs associated with this condition and who described them?
I'am one of the orthopaedic surgeons in Brunei. I'am not very sure if this is the forum to ask about this. I would like to know which company manufactures the silastic rods used in tendon reconstruction and whether they are available in Singapore. I was under the impression that Dow Corning manufactures them, but the company representative in Singapore says they don't market it. Would highly appreciate it if someone could help me regarding this.
